Rafting- a river sport where a group of people (4 – 10 persons) descends river rapids in rubber boats, for the excitement, adventures and good company. Rafting, even though considered an extreme sport, is primarily a recreational sport. Rafting boats (“inflatables” or “rafts”) are made of extremely resistant multi-layer rubber and have several separate air chambers. Usually, the raft also has a steersman (“skipper”), who sits on the stern of the raft and with a rudder or, more often, with an oar, navigates and directs the raft through the rapids.
Kayak- a small boat propelled by human power. It usually has a covered deck. It is moved with a double bladed paddle. The native Ainu, Aleut and Eskimo hunters in sub-Arctic regions of northeastern Asia, North America and Greenland, used the kayak. Modern kayaks are made in a variety of designs and materials for special purposes.
